FAQ's

Do you have questions? Check out our FAQ for answers to some of the most common questions.

What to expect

You’ll complete a brief one-page questionnaire about your medical history. If you’re wearing pants, we’ll provide you a pair of disposable shorts to change into. One of our board-certified vascular surgeons will examine your legs and ask you a few simple questions. The physician will determine if you’re a candidate for further vein testing or if another treatment option (e.g., compression stockings) would be appropriate.

Why have a vein screening

Varicose veins are often a sign of a more serious condition that can worsen if not treated properly. A quick varicose vein screening can help us understand why your bulging veins developed, and guide us in choosing the best treatment option for your specific needs.

Does insurance cover it

The screening is free, and then the treatment is covered by most insurance plans. During your screening, our billing department will check your insurance coverage.

What is the difference between spider veins and varicose veins

Spider veins are small red, blue or purple blood vessels on the surface of the skin. Varicose veins are abnormal veins that have become swollen, enlarged and ropey. Varicose veins are usually a result of defective valves inside the vein. This condition is known as venous insufficiency. Together, spider veins and bulging varicose veins comprise the most common circulatory problem of the lower extremities. It is estimated that spider veins and varicose veins affect 80 million people in the United States.
